The early medieval hillfort Bródno Stare (Warsaw) – a guided tour

 

We invite you for a guided tour of the hillfort Bródno Stare in Warsaw, which is under the supervision of the State Archaeological Museum in Warsaw. Dr. Dariusz Błaszczyk (Faculty of Archaeology, University of Warsaw) will talk about buildings and interesting facts from the life of the inhabitants of the early medieval settlement.

Visiting date: June 20 (Sunday), 11.00-12.00 and 12.00-13.00

Guided tours in Polish

The Bródno Stare archaeological site is the remains of the oldest hillfort and settlement in contemporary Warsaw. Traces of settlement are related to the early Middle Ages, most probably from the end of the 9th to the 11th century. You can learn about the settlement, fortifications, and the everyday life of the inhabitants of that time, e.g. from a short animation by Mateusz Osiadacz (from the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences):
