BA STUDIES

Information for candidates for Bachelor’s Degree studies (click the photo)

The BA programme is available for holders of the European Baccalaureate who are fluent in English. Admission is conducted through the Internet Recruitment of Candidates (IRK) web page.

Registration for Archaeology is open from April 22nd until July 10th, 2024.

The last day to pay the recruitment/admission fee is July 11th, 2024.

Documents required from Candidates for Bachelor’s Degree studies are as follows:

  • the original of secondary school (maturity) certificate and transcript of grades, entitling to undertake university-level study in country in which the certificate / document was issued;
  • a personal questionnaire, which includes candidate’s photo, printed out from candidate’s individual registration account in the IRK system and signed by the candidate;
  • an application for issuing electronic student’s id (ELS), which includes candidate’s photo, printed out from candidate’s individual registration account in the IRK system and signed by the candidate;
  • a proof of student’s id  (ELS) payment;
  • statement on becoming acquainted with the amount of fees for educational services at the University of Warsaw;
  • a legalisation (authorisation) or apostille of the original of secondary school (maturity) certificate and transcript of grades or the higher education diploma and transcript of grades;
  • a document stating that the certificate / diploma entitles to undertake or continue university-level study in country in which the certificate / diploma was issued – template for candidates for first-cycle (Bachelor level)
  • accepted by the University of Warsaw document confirming proficiency in English language (at least B2 level);
  • a health certificate issued by a doctor stating that you are fit to study (in English or Polish) – referral for medical examination

Tuition fee

There is no tuition fee. We also welcome Erasmus and Erasmus Mundus students of archaeology and related disciplines for one/two semester stays.


 

MA STUDIES

The MA programme in Archaeology is available for holders of a BA in Archaeology or related disciplines who are fluent in English. Admission is conducted through the Internet Recruitment of Candidates (IRK) web page.

Registration for Archaeology is open from April 22nd until July 10th, 2024.

The last day to pay the recruitment/admission fee is July 11th, 2024.

Documents required from Candidates for Master’s Degree studies are as follows:

  • the higher education diploma (MA, BA, engineer diploma or equivalent) and transcript of grades obtained during the course of study, entitling to continue university-level study in country in which the diploma was issued,
    or original of the certificate confirming graduation from studies and containing information on level, programme and profile of studies;
  • a personal questionnaire, which includes candidate’s photo, printed out from candidate’s individual registration account in the IRK system and signed by the candidate;
  • an application for issuing electronic student’s id (ELS), which includes candidate’s photo, printed out from candidate’s individual registration account in the IRK system and signed by the candidate;
  • a proof of student’s id  (ELS) payment – in case of candidates not holding ELS;
  • statement on becoming acquainted with the amount of fees for educational services at the University of Warsaw;
  • a legalisation (authorisation) or apostille of the original of secondary school (maturity) certificate and transcript of grades or the higher education diploma and transcript of grades;
  • a document stating that the certificate / diploma entitles to undertake or continue university-level study in country in which the certificate / diploma was issued – template for candidates for second-cycle (Master level) studies
  • accepted by the University of Warsaw document confirming proficiency in English language (at least B2 level);
  • a health certificate issued by a doctor stating that you are fit to study (in English or Polish) – referral for medical examination;
  • a photocopy of visa or other document proving legalisation of stay in Poland – in case of foreigners staying in Poland

Admission rules

Candidates can find all the important information regarding recruitment on the IRK web page.

The recruitment procedure will take into account the results of the oral exam in English, based mainly on a reading list (below).

Books will mainly concern general archaeological issues common to all fields of science, including history, methodology of archaeology, methodology of archaeological excavations, and the specifics of the specialization that the candidate is going to study during second cycle studies.

In the case of foreign candidates, an oral exam can be organized via an Internet communicator (e.g. Zoom), allowing for the visual identification of the candidate following the documents attached by him in the IRK system.

Candidates will be assessed on a scale of 0 to 30 points.

Admission to full-time second cycle studies will depend on obtaining at least 17 points from the oral exam and submitting the set of required documents within the deadline, including a university diploma, within the limit of places.
