Money Talks: Barbarian Imitations and Copies of Roman Imperial Denarii

Money Talks: Barbarian Imitations and Copies of Roman Imperial Denarii with Arkadiusz Dymowski (Independent Researcher, Poland) and Kyrylo Myzgin (University of Warsaw, Poland)

Wednesday, April 17, 2024
6:00 PM ET (Reception at 5:30)

Many Roman Imperial denarii found their way to the so-called Barbaricum territory and became the subject of numerous different imitations. These fakes, mostly produced in Eastern Europe, were often used in international exchange but also played a role among the barbarians. This Money Talk will focus on the chronology, typology, and production techniques of both the imitations and copies of Roman denarii.

This event will be held in-person and virtually. A link will be sent to all active members on the morning of the talk. This lecture will be recorded and uploaded to YouTube for later viewing.
