Polska Misja Archeologiczna do Ptolemais oraz Wydział Archeologii Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego serdecznie zapraszają na wykład zatytułowany „Houses of Cyrenaica and symbols of power: blending the sacred and civic spheres”, który wygłosi dr Eleonora Gasparini (Istituto Centrale per il Restauro – Ministero della Cultura, Roma).
Streszczenie wykładu: The lecture will focus on the public function of the residences highlighted by the presence of sacred/civic signals such as imperial statues, dedications to the divi augusti, symbols of the ephebia and more. The examples would explain how the „language of power” was articulated in Cyrene and Ptolemais during the imperial period and testify the presence of these messages in the houses of the elites.
Dr Eleonora Gasparini jest wybitną specjalistką w zakresie architektury mieszkalnej w Italii, Afryce Północnej oraz we wschodnim basenie Morza Sródziemnego. Swoje badania prowadziła m.in. na terenie Włoch, Cyrenajki, Cypru, Egiptu i Palestyny. Z Misją Ptolemais dr Gasparini współpracuje od 2008 r., a w Polsce gościła wielokrotnie z racji swojej aktywności naukowej związanej z archeologią Cyrenajki i Cypru. W 2023 r. opublikowała znakomitą monografię „Dimore della Cirenaica. Abitare a Cirene e a Tolemaide durante l’età imperiale” (Archaeopress: Oxford, 2023).
Wykład ma charakter otwarty i zostanie wygłoszony w sali 210 (im. Profesora Tomasza Mikockiego) w siedzibie Wydziału Archeologii UW w poniedziałek 26 maja 2025 r. o g. 11.30.
